There are currently 2 programs available:
1) Diploma in Essential Skills for Hospitality, Service and Tourism Co-Op which is a 48 weekslong program combining 24 weeks of in-class instruction followed by 24 weeks of co-op workterm. The great advantage of this program is that during the first 6 months, students can have a part-time job (20 hours a week) while being enrolled in the program and full-time job (40 hours a week) during scheduled school breaks to partially support their stay in Canada. During the next 6 months, students can work full-time (40 hours per week).
2) Certificate in Essential Skills for Hospitality, Service and Tourism which is a 26 weeks long program combining 24 weeks of in-class instruction followed by 2-week Capstone Project. Students are allowed to work part-time during the whole study part (20 hours per week). The Capstone Project is an academic project in which student will select a topic that relates to both their studies and field of work. This is submitted in the form of a final written report or presentation. Students in this program who want assistance finding work should also sign up for the optional Launchpad service to assist with resume writing and job search. Upon successful completion of any of these programs, students are awarded with an internationally recognized Certificate. Students can earn anywhere between $9 to $14 CAD per hour for the work that they take on during their program. Programs are focusing to teach industry and product knowledge around customer service, hospitality and tourism, as well as the soft skills required for positions in settings such as hotels, motels, resorts, restaurants, convention centres and cruise ships. The skills students will learn in these programs can be used in any career where client contact and customer service are critical elements of the role.
